Successful EcoPrint Virtual Summit Creates Unique Platform for Learning & Change

The first edition of the EcoPrint Virtual Summit which ran 11-12 October created a successful experience for learning and collaboration. EcoPrint is a unique platform providing free access to help the print sector become more environmentally responsible and sustainable.

500 delegates attended from across the world including famous brands and retailers.

The objective of the Summit was to enable anyone across the world to gain FREE access to some quality insight and information. With over 30 speakers from three continents and across the print spectrum represented, the event was a successful first step in delivering some unique content to help people across the world, become more sustainable.

The content was created by filming in London's Century Club on September 22 and throughout the summer period via Zoom. Organisers billed the event as a smorgasbord of content with a range of different flavours, united by a mission to work together for a more sustainable print and packaging industry.

Plans are already underway for a second edition of the EcoPrint Virtual Summit, including some (we think) cool ideas to grow the community in 2024.

Frazer Chesterman, Co-Founder, enthuses, “EcoPrint is unique as a brand and community as it has one clear objective: To work together for a more sustainable printing industry. We have not met anyone who thinks this mission is not relevant or worthwhile. We will be consulting our partners and speakers to discuss collaboratively our next steps, but the first event proved a need for this insight, so we will be building on this great first step going forward into 2024 and beyond.”

Virtual Events Remain Powerful

FM Future ran 6 large virtual events during the lockdown and seemingly made a mistaken assumption that business returned to normal after the lockdown eased and virtual was a temporary convenience, so focused on other platforms. However, the success of the EcoPrint Virtual Summit proves there is still a place for virtual events done well, particularly with an issue as global and vital as this. Organisers have had supportive feedback and input from all corners of the globe from attendees something that would not have occurred with an in-person event. We also really like the fact the format is so inclusive, and attracts a more diverse mix of people while also creating far less carbon than a large public event.

Sustainability remains the biggest single issue confronting our industry and we have every intention to develop the EcoPrint movement by continuing to create content and a platform to connect. We are excited and optimistic about the future.

All the content remains available to view until the end of 2023 after which it will become available on YouTube.
